ICH

26th Jun 2018 - Alexandra Palace
Won by 68 runs - NRR = 3.4

We had not played ICH for a few years, but it was reassuring to see that their fondness for a few beers had not diminished in the meantime - their first three players tucked into pints immediately upon arrival. Given the beers and inevitable delays on the trains from Moorgate, the start was rather delayed and so we agreed to play a sixteen over match.

CIPA batted first, and it immediately became clear that a big score was in the offing. Wilson and King quickly reached retirement totals of 28 and 25 respectively, and were then replaced by Torrance and Fraser who registered rapid scores of 25 and 29 before retiring. The innings lost a little momentum in the final overs, with Dean and Jackson struggling to find the boundary, but nevertheless CIPA reached a formidable total of 155-0.

ICH never really looked like getting close. Wickets in the opening overs to Grant, Pidgeon and Prothero resulted in a rapidly escalating run rate, which quickly became virtually impossible following three wickets in two overs from Milton. We weren't able to finish off ICH entirely in the end - they limped to a final total of 87-6 - but it was a pleasing victory after the loss the following week.
