Reports of drizzle all day at Ally Pally made this week's game uncertain, but we arrived to relatively dry pitch and 11 DLR employees warming up (they thought the start time was 5.30).

Stand-in captain Andy Spurr won the toss and elected to bat to give our stragglers time to arrive. Nick King got CIPA off to a good start, but his innings progressively got worse and worse, ending up by skying a simple catch to the keeper. This was one of three catches the keeper didn't really have to work for, and Rich Taylor getting stumped capped a rather good day in the field for DLR's skipper.

Most of CIPA's batsmen managed to get in and out, with the exception of Andy Spurr, being called for a single by Stuart Lumsden before the ball hitting the non-strikers wicket. Unfortunately, the bowler was well versed in law 28 and removed middle stump without hesitation.

The final score of 144 felt slightly below par, but would have been a lot lower had it not been for David Gallagher's innings at number 11.

DLR came out to bat after what seemed like an age (cue jokes about the tube running on time and tube strikes), and Chris Milton and Andy Spurr shared 5 wickets (all clean bowled) in the first 6 overs. This put DLR on the back foot and the bowling was shared around. James Duffy seemed content with his performance with the bat, so shelled an easy catch and bowled a 'charitable' over to make the game a little more competitive. However, it was too little too late for DLR who finished 29 runs shy in the dying light.
