After a few games called off due rain (which only seems to on Tuesdays this summer), CIPA were looking forward to a dry game against Taylor Wessing. When discussing the opposition, some thought we played them last year and got smashed, others thought we didn't play them, and Justin thought we beat them by 10 wickets. It turned out we last played a 7-man Taylor Wessing was in 2013 when we won by 10 wickets.

This put an extra spring in CIPA's step, but this was quickly removed by Chris Milton bowling 6 wides in his opening two ovwers. Wickets fell at regular intervals, with Andy Grant clean bowling two in a row in his final over - the new batsman very sensibly left the hat-trick ball with all 9 fielders in catching positions.

The runrate was slowed towards the end, assisted by Andy Spurr mixing pace and spin to keep the batsmen guessing. James Duffy got his first wicket of the season (recorded on video by the Duffy fan club) - a great piece of wicket-keeping by Nick King to catch a leg-side edge and stump the batsman for good measure.

CIPA went into bat chasing what was thought to be a very chasable target, and this the openers did a good job at maintaining the run rate. However, the middle order did not, Ben Hunter edging onto his own stumps first ball being the low point of the innings. There was still hope up to the 16th over, but Taylor Wessing brought back on their quickest bowler who was unplayable in the dimming light.

Despite the loss it was an enjoyable game against a fun opposition - the return fixture next year is already being planned!
